Sony PSP product manager John Koller pointed out that the Nintendo DS should be worrying about the iPhone entry into the handheld games. Not so, says general manager of Nintendo Satoru Iwata, who explained that while he appreciates and uses an iPhone himself, he did not see the iPhone as a potential threat to Nintendo DS handheld.
The iPhone May have its own portable offers good game, Spore and Bomberman Touch, but Iwata is not batting an eyelash to Apple's best-selling handset:
I know that this is an attractive product, but when I look at the iPhone users against users of our Nintendo DS, I understand there are overlaps. And if you ask "Is that too much overlap?" My answer is no, not really.
We somehow agree with his feelings: the Nintendo DS is built primarily as a gaming device, while the iPhone - packed with all the kindness offered by ergonomic touch user interface - is still a phone, and without doubt those who bought Apple combined intend to use it mainly to make calls.
