DSMaps has contacted me to say his released an alpha version of its new application.
I made an initial alpha version of the viewer a card for the DS as downloads tiles on the fly from Google Maps "keyhole server. Alpha It is because I have always had a lot of features to add, but stability is actually pretty good.
Please see the Getting Started page for more information on how to use DSmaps. This is just a first alpha version to obtain feedback. The core of the application works pretty well at this stage and it is very stable. So you can pan and zoom anywhere in the world Google Maps. And there's a rudimentary "home" to save your institution preferred departure. But as an alpha version, it does not have all the features in place yet - not even close. The lower display is a simple debug console window. See page Future Plans to get an idea of what I intend to add before I go to make a call to version 1.0.
